Konami registers the Silent Hill brand … but it’s not what you expected

Thanks to the ever-vigilant eyes of a ResetEra user, it has been discovered how Silent Hill has been registered as a trademark in the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). This, in theory, could indicate some reactivation of the license either for remastering or a new game. However, this does not seem to be the case.

In the description of the brand you can read in what categories this registration is framed and to the surprise (or not) of many video games or entertainment software are not protagonists. In this sense, the identification of the patent makes mention of electronic gaming machines that accept bets, gaming devices, gaming machines, slot machines – slot machines in Spain-, bingo machines, casino equipment and a long etcetera in that same line.

The excessive number of categories could indicate that simply it is a commercial protection action, although Konami also Poria be thinking about launching its popular pachinko of Japan. The last attempt to recover the saga, we remember, ended with Silents Hills canceled followed by the departure of Hideo Kojima.
