Top 10 most anticipated video games of 2018

After two years in which the video game sector has been on a very good run, 2018 has the challenge of keeping the bar high. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles have already reached full maturity and it is this year when we should start to see the games that reach their technical ceiling. For its part, Nintendo must continue to feed its switch console with good exclusives and, in the meantime, we will see if the PC stands out with proposals that take advantage of its unlimited potential.

The list of games planned for this 2018 already has hundreds of candidates willing to compete and stand out in such an aggressive and complicated market as electronic entertainment. Next, we selected 10 of the most anticipated games in a list that have been especially taken into account that are productions that, as usually happens in this industry, do not have ballots to go beyond this year.

Dragon Ball FighterZ

PLATFORM: PC, PlayStation 4 AND XBOX ONE
Date: January 26

The dream of any Dragon Ball fan. Finally, a video game reproduces with the utmost fidelity the combats of the famous manga of Akira Toriyama. Seeing Goku, Vegeta, Trunks and company fight as if it were a chapter of the animation series is something really amazing. Arc System Works, the Japanese studio responsible for the acclaimed series of fighting games Guilty Gear, is taking care to make it possible.

Monster Hunter World

PLATFORM: PlayStation 4, XBOX ONE (FOR PC IN THE FALL)
Date: January 26

There is much expectation for the return of Monster Hunter, the world of hunters and gigantic monsters that has given so much joy to the Japanese company Capcom over the last few years. The series had long been confined to the limitations of portable consoles, but this new release that will appear for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One (for PC in the fall), has the ambition to expand the horizons of this franchise in both visual spectacular as in possibilities.

Crossing Souls

PLATFORM: PC AND PLAYSTATION 4
Date: February 13

A trip to the eighties is what this game created by the Sevillian Fourratic team proposes. His colorful pixels, his vibrant retro aesthetic and his plot inspired by many mythical films of this decade have made it one of the most anticipated indie productions of this 2018. Crossing Souls is an action adventure with touches of role-playing in the field of nostalgia and inevitably reminiscent of the popular series Stranger Things.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

PLATFORM: PC, PlayStation 4 I XBOX ONE
Date: February 13

The almost sickly realism with which Kingdom Come: Deliverance reproduces the medieval era is the main claim of this production of the Czech team Warhorse Studios. This one-player RPG promises to reach new heights in terms of immersion. Its complex virtual world will not only count on a historical recreation that is taken care of down to the less detail, but aspects such as history, the fighting system or its non-linear development could turn it into one of the great surprises of 2018.

Sea of Thieves

PLATFORM: PC AND XBOX ONE
Date: March 20

A game of pirates is always welcome, but if it is also cooperative online and offers a different experience the expectation is greater. Microsoft has high hopes for this production that will allow Xbox and Windows players to share a frigate to go to sea in search of glory and fortune. With his visual cartoon style and the original idea of his online corsair world, in which each player must develop a role, the fantasy of emulating the adventures of John Silver the Largo is getting closer.

A Way Out

PLATFORM: PC, PlayStation 4 AND XBOX ONE
Date: March 23

The new film and video game director Josef Fares, the creator of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, is one of the most anticipated titles of 2018. Two players must put themselves in the shoes of two convicts whose mission is to escape from prison, all in a production of very cinematographic dye in which it is mandatory to play cooperatively. Although the approach is not the most original, the way to capture it through a split screen that adapts to each situation is generating great expectation.

Griftlands

PLATFORM: PC
Date: Early 2018

A world of science fiction in which everything is negotiable, money, loyalty and even morality. So the last Canadian team is presented Klei Entertainment, creators of some indie gems as memorable as Mark of the Ninja, do not starve or Invisible, Inc. Griftlans has a visual style that looks hand drawn, charismatic characters and a turn-based fighting system in the style of old-school classics. It is not making much noise, and that’s why it promises to become one of the surprises of 2018.

God of War

PLATFORM: PlayStation 4
Date: Early 2018 (date still to be confirmed)

The god of war has gone over to Nordic mythology, he has left a beard and, besides, he is a father. Kratos is ready for new and wild adventures at its premiere in an imminent release on PlayStation 4. One of Sony’s most iconic games in the last decade is finally ready after years of waiting. Like its predecessors, God of War promises to set new standards in regard to visual spectacularity.

Red Dead Redemption 2

PLATFORM: PlayStation 4 AND XBOX ONE
Date: Spring 2018

The latest of the creators of Grand Theft Auto tops all the lists of the most anticipated games of 2018. The sequel to this action game and open world set in the Wild West of the United States is under development for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles and will be the first game of Rockstar Games created from scratch for the new generation of consoles.

Although details about his plot have not been revealed, Red Dead Redemption 2 is considered the continuation of the first part launched in 2010 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, one of the summits of the last generation of consoles.

Dreams

PLATFORM: PlayStation 4
Date: 2018 (unconfirmed)

A video game that allows us to make dreams and share them. The last proposal of the British Media Molecule is ambitious as few, but if there is something that can be expected from the creators of LittleBigPlanet and Tearaway is, precisely, something different and very creative. Since its announcement in 2013 that Dreams has been surrounded by mystery, but it seems that 2018 will finally know to what extent it is true what they have promised for years.
