Officially: Google increases the volume of search results snippets and will not affect sites
Google has made an important change to its search results, saying it will not affect the ranking of search results snippets but it is just a normal procedure.
The change focuses on the size of the search results snippets, which are also called the description of the search results pages. Each search result shows the title of the page, the link, and the snippet that reveals part of the content.
It is known that the length of the snippet usually does not exceed 160 characters, but with the new update, it will reach 230 characters.
This will allow more content to appear from the search results, and can positively impact your clickthrough rate (CTR) on search results and explore more of them but does not affect their ranking.
The company said the change would not apply to all search results but would depend on the search experience and whether 160 characters would suffice for certain search results or require longer extracts.
