Many of you will probably have been discouraged to hear that, although the long-awaited Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be released on December 7 on Nintendo Switch, the official adapter for connecting four GameCube controls on the platform will probably be delayed until May 2019 in Europe, according to Nintendo UK.
Although we don’t know what decision Nintendo will make for Europe, some Third-Party companies in America have been developing their own alternatives to the official adapter for some time, and the popular manufacturing company Nyko has revealed its own accessory to fulfill this function, so that no one is left without trying the classic Smash experience this Christmas.
The company has announced the Nyko Retro Controller Hub, a GameCube adapter for Nintendo Switch that has four ports for four controls, and like Nintendo’s licensed product, occupies two USB ports on the dock to receive the required power.
Nintendo’s official GameCube adapter for Nintendo Switch has a suggested retail price on Amazon.com of $19.35 and will go on sale on December 8; at the time of this news, however, it is not available on Amazon.es.
Nyko has confirmed that its adapter will also be on sale during December of this year and will have a suggested price of $14.99 at Amazon.com, almost $5 cheaper than the official adapter, for those who prefer to pay a less; although this difference may not convince those who enjoy having the brand’s official accessories.
The company has also announced an individual adapter for playing with a single GameCube controller on Nintendo Switch. The item will be sold later this month for about $9.99 at Amazon.com, and unlike the four-port adapter, the Retro Controller Adapter has a much more compact design and will only need a USB port to work.
We look forward to hearing from Nintendo regarding the official GameCube Adapter for Nintendo Switch in Europe. In the meantime, Third-Party companies such as Qumox and Mayflash also offer their respective unlicensed alternatives through Amazon.com.
