In this Article, I’m going to discuss Hyundai Kona. first of all, you will be told about style then Quality.
In India and some Latin American markets, including Mexico, Hyundai entered the B-SUV segment for some time, with Crete. In Europe, however, there was still a gap in the range. The Koreans worked day and night to cover it in the most millennial way that could have occurred to them. The result? The new Hyundai Kona.
According to measurement, It is 4.16 meters long, 1.55 meters high and 1.80 meters wide. It gets its name from a coastal region of Hawaii, famous for attracting travelers eager for adventure. And it’s right there where Hyundai begins to write the concept from which the Kona proposal is developed: an active lifestyle.
To describe the work of its designers, Hyundai uses three principles: an “armor” that shows how prepared the Kona is for extreme activities, a Composite Lamps lighting system with an LED light show and, finally, the new grille Hyundai waterfall type.
In the end, just to get to your target customer, the Hyundai Kona is an SUV that does not go unnoticed. In addition to having a range of striking colors, the roof, poles, part of the wheels and mirrors are painted in black, to contrast with the rest of the body.
Connectivity and screens, the weapons of conquest of the Kona towards the millennia
We are not the ones who say that the Kona is an SUV designed for millennials. In the statement, the same Hyundai is who clarifies it. To reach them, of course, we must give the necessary prominence to the elements that predominate in their lives, that is first level connectivity and multiple screens.
According to markets, the Hyundai Kona can equip an infotainment system with an easy screen of 5, 7 or 8 inches, compatible with Android Auto and CarPlay, as well as with different functions, such as digital radio in Europe and the United States or 4G telematics, depending on the availability in the region.
Among its highlights is also mentioned a head-up display, the brightest in its category, according to Hyundai, which shows information about speed, browser instructions, music player and lane departure alert system messages. Similarly, the Kona is equipped with the wireless charger for smartphones.
On a less banal level, Hyundai says that despite the relevance that the exterior design took on during the development of the Kona, the interior space was not affected. In fact, the firm itself mentions that the Kona is the broadest B-SUV in the segment because the position of the rear suspension does not compromise the space in the rear seats and the central tunnel, even in the models equipped with all-wheel drive, is very low
There are three options of gasoline engine and other diesel options
According to markets, the Hyundai Kona can be ordered with three engine options. The most basic of all is the 2.0-liter Atkinson cycle, 149 hp, and 132 lb-ft – inherited from the Elantra – able to go from 0 to 100 km / h in 10 seconds and reach a top speed of 194 km / h. It goes with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The most efficient of all available engines is a three-cylinder, 1.0-liter, turbo, 120-hp, and 126-lb-ft, with which it goes from 0 to 100 km / h in 12 seconds and can reach a speed of 181 km / h. Consumptions have not been detailed, but it is available with a 6-speed manual transmission.
For the higher-performance versions, the Hyundai Kona has a turbocharged four-cylinder 1.6-liter engine with 177 hp and 195 lb.-ft. of torque. Associated with a 7-speed automatic double clutch transmission it can go from 0 to 100 km / h in 7.7 seconds. If this configuration sounds familiar to you, it is because it is available in the KIA Soul, although with slightly less power.
Naturally, for Europe, there will be options with a diesel engine, but Hyundai has not specified them yet. It only mentions that 1.6-liter engines will be powered by this type of fuel, but it does not detail performance or consumption.
ACCORDING TO HYUNDAI, THE HEIGHT COMPARED TO THE FLOOR IS THAT OF AN AUTHENTIC SUV. SOME VERSIONS ARE AVAILABLE WITH ALL-WHEEL DRIVE.
Some versions may be ordered with integral traction system. Only these models will have independent rear suspension; the rest, the front-wheel drive, will carry a torsion shaft. Like other models in the Hyundai range, Kona also has three driving modes: Eco, Sport, and Normal.
In terms of safety, in addition to multiple airbags, ABS brakes and traction and stability controls, Hyundai will include in some markets assistances such as collision alert with automatic braking, assistant to stay in the lane, attention alert of the driver, assistant high lights, blind spot monitoring and cross rear traffic alert. The structure, on the other hand, boasts a 51.8% composition of advanced high strength steel.
The Hyundai Kona will be available in North America, Europe, and Asia
At first, it was believed that the Hyundai Kona would be available only in Europe; the Korean firm has emphasized the importance of this model in its expansion plans in the Old Continent. However, the press release details that it will also be available in North America.
The first market to receive it will be Korean, where it will start selling this same month. Later, but this year, the Hyundai Kona will reach dealers in its main European markets and, towards the end of 2017, the United States. We do not know if it will be available in Mexico, but considering the success of Soul, Hyundai has a market to exploit.
